Katsuhiro Otomo Akira Movie HD Desktop Wallpaper
Akira is a 1988 Japanese epic animated science fiction thriller movie directed by Katsuhiro Otomo. It was written by Otomo and Izo Hashimoto and based on Otomo’s manga of the same name.
The film depicts a dystopian version of Tokyo in the year 2019, with cyberpunk tones. The plot focuses on teenage biker Tetsuo Shima and his psychic powers, and the leader of his biker gang, Shotaro Kaneda. Kaneda tries to prevent Tetsuo from releasing the imprisoned psychic Akira. While most of the character designs and settings were adapted from the original 2182-page manga epic, the restructured plot of the movie differs considerably from the print version, pruning much of the last half of the manga.
The film became a hugely popular cult film and is widely considered to be a landmark in Japanese animation movie.
Katsuhiro Otomo (born April 14, 1954) is a Japanese manga artist, screenwriter and film director. He is best known as the creator of the manga Akira and its animated film adaptation.
Katsuhiro Otomo was born in Tome, Miyagi Prefecture and grew up in Tome-gun. While he was in high school he was fascinated with movies, often taking a three-hour train ride during school holidays just to see them. In 1973 he graduated high school and left Miyagi, heading to Tokyo with the hopes of becoming a manga artist. On October 4, 1973, he published his first work, a manga adaptation of Prosper Merimee’s short novel Mateo Falcone, titled A Gun Report.
