IUPUI on Student Safety and Financial Planning…

The Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) is a college campus that offers over 200 undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate programs and degrees. This university, which covers about 500 acres of land, is also the state’s premiere public research institute. According to Forbes, it is the 8th best public college in the Midwest. Among the 30,000 students it enrolls each year, this university has produced numerous distinguished alumni.

In the field of politics, renowned names include Julia Carson (former Indiana congresswoman), Dan Coats (U.S. senator, former member of House of Representatives, and former U.S. Ambassador to Germany), Samuel D. Jackson (former senator), Arthur Raymond Robinson (former senator), Frederick Van Nuys (former senator) and former vice president of the United States, Dan Quayle.

The following made a mark in the realm of sports and athletics: Mark May (football player, Outland Trophy Winner, ESPN commentator), George Hill (NBA basketball player under the San Antonio Spurs), and Trischa Zorn (Paralympian swimmer).

Norman Bridwell (author and illustrator of Clifford the Big Red Dog), Vija Celmins (fine art painter), Bill Peet (illustrator and story writer for Disney Studios), and David Wolf (NASA astronaut) are other respectable names in the fields of arts and science that came from this university.

It’s safe to say, that most students residing in the state and even those from other places strive to get into this prestigious educational institution that the U.S. News and World Report put on 5th spot among the “Up and Coming National Universities” for 2011.

Aside from the top quality education offered in the university’s educational programs, IUPUI also ensures student safety inside the campus. At the same time, it provides financial assistance to the parents of students.

The university recognizes the importance of campus safety, which is why it employs 35 full-time police officers and 5 full-time security officers on-site. All of the police officers are certified law enforcers from the Indian Law Enforcement Training Board.

In addition to that, there are over 50 emergency telephones spread all over that can connect any caller directly and for free to the Public Safety Dispatch Center inside the campus. Any student who feels unsafe or is in need of any assistance can call (317) 274-SAFE (7233) at any time of the day and help will be on its way.

When it comes to financial assistance, the Office of Student Financial Aid Services and the Office of the Student Account Services collaborate to provide students account-related services such as counseling on financial planning, aid in student billing, and many more. Other related services include student assistance to all financial aid-related queries, discussion of awards, grants, and loans, request or reduction of loans, completion of Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and so on.

IUPUI knows that topnotch education is not the only thing that matters. Yes, it is on top of the list of requirements that any university should achieve and IUPUI does it with hardly any difficulty. But apart from it, it further extends its care to the students by providing a safe campus and extensive financial help. If you’re a student or alumni of this premiere university, show your love for your alma mater by adorning your desktop wall with free IUPUI wallpaper.
