Buckle Up for Cars 2

Disney Pixar does not usually do sequels. It has over a dozen of computer-animated movies since its first release of Toy Story but there are only two movies that they have done a sequel on. The first is Toy Story and the second is Cars. If you enjoyed watching the speedy first installment of the hit animation movie Cars released in 2006, you’d definitely love the sequel, which will be shown in 2D, Disney Digital 3D, IMAX 3D, and RealD 3D. It is to be released in theaters this coming June 2011 in the United States and July 2011 in the United Kingdom.

Star racecar Lightning McQueen returns to the big screen along with his bed buddy, the tow truck Mater to take their friendship to a whole new level, traveling overseas to join the first-ever World Grand Prix competition. But the two get caught in numerous hurdles, pitfalls, and obstacles that would send you rolling with laughter every few minutes into the climax. Mater gets involved with international espionage. He juggles time between his top-secret spy mission and his quest in the high profile racing competition. This adventure leads him all around Japan and Europe. To add more interest into the story, a couple of secret agents, fierce racing competitors, and ominous villain characters are thrown into the picture.

Owen Wilson reprises his voice role as the lead star in the movie Lightning McQueen. Other cast members include Larry the Cable Guy as Mater, Michael Caine as Finn McMissile, Emily Mortimer as Holley Shiftwell, Jason Isaacs as Siddeley, Thomas Kretschmann as Professor Zündapp, Joe Mantegna as Grem, Peter Jacobson as Acer, Tony Shalhoub as Luigi, Guido Quaroni as Guido, Paul Dooley as Sarge, John Ratzenberger as Mack, John Turturro as Francesco Bernoulli, Jeff Gordon as Jeff Gorvette, Lewis Hamilton as Lewis Hamilton, Eddie Izzard as Miles Axlerod, Darrell Waltrip as Darrell Cartrip, David Hobbs as David Hobbscap, Bruce Campbell as Rod “Torque” Redline, John Lasseter as John Lassetire, Franco Nero as Uncle Topolino, Vanessa Redgrave as Mama Topolino, Michel Michelis as Tomber, Bonnie Hunt as Sally Carrera, Cheech Marin as Ramone, Jenifer Lewis as Flo, Michael Wallis as Sheriff, and Mark Winterbottom as Frosty.

Three voice actors from the first Cars movie have died a few years back. George Carlin, who lent his voice to the hippy character Fillmore died on 2008 from heart failure. The character of Fillmore will return for the sequel but the voice actor to replace Carlin is yet to be announced. Paul Newman, who voiced Doc Hudson died on the same year due to cancer. The director of the sequel confirmed that Newman’s character would not be reprised in Cars 2. Another voice actor, Joe Ranft died just ten months before the original Cars film was to be released. He was killed in a car accident. His character Red will appear on the sequel.
