Because Money Isnt Everything
Money truly isnt everything. Were reminded about this once more by this 2012 drama film entitled Cosmopolis. It stars the famous Robert Pattinson, whos widely known for his shimmery vampire character Edward in the film series Twilight, opposite Kirsten Stewart. In this film, Pattinson doesnt have a thirst for blood, but for money. He plays a young billionaire whos always aboard his private limousine.
The plot goes around Pattinsons character Eric Packer. Hes always riding slowly across Manhattan in his limousine, not caring about the traffic thats dragging behind him. The film shows the mundane life of this billionaire plagued with conflicts like marital problems and emotional turmoil. Things get twisted when Packer goes into self-destruction and kills his bodyguard.
The film is directed by David Cronenberg and is based on the novel of the same title written by Don DeLillo. It was released in Canada last June 8, 2012. It will have its screening in the United States this coming August 17. It also premiered in competition for the Palme d’Or at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival.
Apart from Pattinson, the film also stars Jay Baruchel as Shiner, Paul Giamatti as Benno Levin, Kevin Durand as Torval, Juliette Binoche as Didi Fancher, who plays Packers art consultant and love affair, Samantha Morton as Vija Kinsky, Packers chief advisor, Sarah Gadon as Elise Shifrin, Mathieu Amalric as André Petrescu/The Pastry Assassin, K’naan as Brutha Fez, a rap artist, Emily Hampshire as Jane Melman, and Patricia McKenzie as Kendra Hays, Eric’s bodyguard, with whom Packer has another affair.
