Lets Remember Amelia Earhart
July 24 1897 s the birth date of Amelia Earhart and since she disappeared on July 2, 1937 but it was never confirmed when she died, the world remembers her during her birthday and calls it the Amelia Earhart Day. On the day she disappeared, Earhart was navigating a Purdue-funded Lockheed Model 10 Electra at the central Pacific Ocean near the Howland Island.
She is famous as a pioneer and author of American aviation being the first aviatrix or female pilot to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. Alongside this honor she also received the US Distinguished Flying cross. She had won other awards in the field and was able to write books about aviation. Her fame and achievement helped in the organization of The Ninety-Nine which is for female pilots. She also joined the Purdue University Aviation Department in 1935 for a short while. Earhart became member of the National Womans Party and was a great supporter of the Equal Rights Amendment.
It was all this fame and glory that led people to be fascinated with her and her disappearance even up to present. Some professionals in the field are even on the continuing search for her remains.
