The Funny Haunted House
Michael Tiddes directed a comedy horror spoof film entitled A Haunted House released on January 11, 2013. The film is a parody of horror films in the found footage genre like The Paranormal Activity. The film stars Marlon Wayans as Malcolm Johnson. Other characters include Keisha played by Essence Atkins, Father Doug Williams portrayed by Cedric the Entertainer, and Jim the Psychic played by Nick Swardson. Robin Thede and J.B. Smoove play the role of Keishas parents. Other actors in the film are David Koechner, Dave Sheridan, Marlene Forte, Alanna Ubach, Andrew Daly, and Affion Crockett.
Malcolm and Keisha are a young couple and are the main characters in the film. They decided to move in together but this decision was welcomed by a bad omen when Keisha runs down Malcolms dog. In the process of nesting in their new home, the couple soon finds out that they are not alone. Keisha has apparently brought a demonic presence into their house because not long ago, she made a deal with a devil for a pair of shoes. The pair decides to seek help from different sorts of people to get rid of the intruder into their house. They seek the help of the modern Ghostbusters, a priest, and a psychic. They have also installed cameras in different parts of the house to record extraordinary phenomenon. Keisha gets possessed by the demon and Malcolm seeks help from the rest of the characters. They performed exorcism several times. Although it appeared that Keisha was free, the film ends by showing the she was still possessed by the demon.
Wayans tells the viewers that his film is not just an exact parody but a funny movie wherein the characters are doing the opposite things of what the actual documentary films portray.
