With a refrigerator in the rear console, pulsing hand-fitted leather seats that can be cooled or heated and include a foot rest, a 21-speaker audio system and DVD player with twin monitors, this car is designed for people who like to leave the actual driving to someone else. A partition for privacy is optional. The manufacturer also offers a panoramic glass roof that can be set from opaque to transparent and adjustable fold-out tables for the rear seats. The Maybach 57, which comes with a shorter wheelbase, is also available. Every Maybach is built precisely to a customer's specifications and takes no less than four months to build. The Maybach production facility in Sindelfingen, Germany completes no more than four or five Maybachs per day. The cars are shipped to the U.S. in special watertight containers. The manufacturer's suggested retail price for the basic model is $357,000. But when you start adding the goodies, the price goes up. And up. Maybach. Resurrected after more than 60 years, the Maybach brand name will be pinned to the most luxurious sedan ever to be assembled by Mercedes-Benz. Two models are offered: the opulent Maybach 57 and the long-wheelbase Maybach 62. Each comes with a stunning list of standard features, and buyers tailor the vehicles to their personal tastes. Sales are expected to number about 500 annually, keeping these ultra-luxury sedans appropriately exclusive.
